Its funny how much time has past since I've last posted on this blog...
To be honest I had completely forgotten about updating this weekly until I watched a TV show where the girl writes in her journal daily. Her dad asked her why she does it and her response was " It all goes by so fast...and this life deserves to be remembered" I've been thinking about that a lot lately....
I'd like to say that not much in my life has happened since then, but in all honesty that's not true. I went home for Christmas, had a wonderful time with family, came back to Utah , started my new semester of school and I even got a hair cut :)
My work schedule changed so instead of working half a day 5 days a week, I work all day every other day. My schedule is rotating so one week I'll work M W F and then the next week I'll work T TH Sat.
I was worried at first about how this would affect my finding a second job and taking institute, but so far it hasn't been a problem. I haven't been able to find a second job ( I look and apply for jobs daily!) and I was able to sign up for an Institute class (Doctrines of the Gospel) on Tuesday and Thursday. I talked to Brother Jacobs and he said that I can take the class on Mondays and Wednesdays as well so that way I can go to institute twice a week...every week :) Its actually kind of cool being in two institute classes because I get to meet new people and hear different perspectives.
As far as my other classes go, this semester so far has proven more difficult than last semester Last week I had 4 exams. Each exam was over 3-5 chapters. I spent the WHOLE week studying and even then, my grades weren't exactly what I am used to. In fact two of the tests went rather poorly. I was so upset! I tend to get pretty down on myself when I don't do well. (Not one of my best traits....)
On Wednesday, I went to Zumba after taking one of the "bad" tests. It's funny... I was in such a depressed mood when I showed up and then afterward I felt like I could take on the world. It's wonderful what exercise can do for you. Especially dancing :)
On Thursday after work and then studying all day, my friend Kim invited me to go visiting teaching with her because her VT partner was unavailable. It was definitely just what I needed. To get out of the "study mode" and have a little "social time". Unfortunately I haven't been as good about visiting teaching this month. I talked to all the girls but never really got around to going to their homes, so I'm going to try better this month :)
After I went visiting teaching with Kim, she and I went to a PSYCH party at Eric's house. We watched episodes of psych and drank pineapple smoothies(and strawberry for those who don't like pineapple *cough* KIM *cough*). YUM!
And then Kim and I went back to her house and just talked about anything and everything...which is one of my favorite things to do...
usually I'm a listener...unless I know the person really well...and then I enjoy a good conversation :)
On Saturday after work, My friend Julie and I went to a Jump Rope ( competition? show? thing?) I'm not really sure what to call it....but it was SO cool! I feel like I've missed out on one of my callings in life. Who knew jump roping could be such an art and be so fun at the same time?
Then later after Kim got off work, we went swimming at the hotel where Julies parents were staying. The pool was only five feet deep, but I loved it! I love water! I miss swimming and I'm somewhat jealous of my siblings Samantha and Ryan who are on the swim team. I wish I was that cool :)
Yesterday was "Parents day" in my ward at church. I was surprised by how many people brought their parents. The ward was PACKED! It made me miss my parents so much! And on top of it all, it was Fast and Testimony meeting. I kept getting the prompting to share my testimony, which normally isn't a big deal for me, but I was a little shy in front of all the parents. It made me miss my own parents so much. Luckily I have an amazing ward that treats me like family.
Relief Society was amazing! Just what I needed. Here I was thinking I had such a bad week because of how stressed I was and having done poorly on two tests... apparently I wasn't the only one with a bad week. And in comparison, mine was a piece of cake compared to what other girls had to go through. It made me realize that I wasn't having the attitude that I needed to have. Alisha ( my relief society president) talked about how we should be our own personal cheerleaders. We need to look at life with a positive Attitude. We need to have that confidence and Believe in ourselves! and when we get knocked down and have setbacks, we need to have the Courage to get back up and keep going. The ABC's of a happy life.
After church, my friend Kim invited Julie and I to join her and her family for the super bowl. I was grateful that she did because I was kind of dreading spending Sunday all alone while my roommates where at their families homes. ( Although Shelby's parents DID end up inviting me over after I received an invitation from Kim) They had delicious food and Kim's newborn nephew came. I have such a soft spot for babies! I'm sad I won't be around when Katrina has her baby girl. As far as the super bowl goes...I'm not a sports person. I don't know whats going on half the time, but I know enough to be able to follow the game. I always get shy in settings where everyone else knows whats going on and I'm the odd one out...so I was pretty quiet...but I still enjoyed myself :)
Well that's pretty much my week. I'll try to write sooner, because THIS life deserves to be remembered :)
Also...as a random side note...
Since I've been back in Utah, I read the book Gone with the wind ( that my roommate Shelby was nice enough to let me borrow)...I had watched the movie a few years ago and the book has been recommended by quite a few people. To be completely honest, I wasn't a huge fan of the book...I enjoy happy endings. But ever since I've read it I cant stop thinking about it. About how things could have gone differently, how they SHOULD have gone differently. I think about Scarlett and how her life revolved around pride and selfishness and money. I think about how she was constantly in search of love and throughout the whole book, she thought she was in love with someone, but she didn't really understand love until it was too late.
I think I had such a hard time with the book because I couldn't relate with Scarlett. Her decisions were the exact opposite of what I would have done. But with reflection, I've decided that that might just be the moral of the book. To NOT be like Scarlett. To live your life with love and selflessness and to not dwell on the past but to work towards the future. Anyway...those are just a few of my thoughts :)

Old Friends...New Memories!
Last week my roommates and I decided to watch a movie
together. We picked the movie Little Women which was a movie that I hadn’t seen
in a while. My roommate Shelby asked if I had ever read the book and was
shocked when I hadn’t. The next day she brought me the book from her house so I
could read it. I absolutely loved it, It
was so much better than the movie. (I may or may not have finished it in 3 days…)
It is definitely a book that sucks you in and makes you empathize with the
characters. But above all, it made me want to be a better sister, a better
daughter, a better person.
On Thursday, I went bowling with a small group from my ward.
In all honesty I am not the best bowler. In fact I’m quite terrible. But it was
still fun J I
still have yet to get a score of 100 or higher. I was SO close! I got a 98….maybe
next time J I
was a little intimidated because I was bowling with Kim and Ryan. Ryan has bowled
a 300. He even has a ring to prove it. And Kim, she just has skills! But it was
fun.
On Friday I went to see the Hobbit with a few friends. LOVED
IT! Seriously, I’m so excited for the next movie. It reminded me of when I went
and saw all the Lord of The Rings movies with my family in theaters. The
theater transports you into a WHOLE different world and maybe I’ve inherited it
from my dad, but I LOVE it! Also, the main dwarf, is Mr. Thornton on North and
South. I had to keep from swooning the whole movie. it was ridiculous J
On Saturday, after work my ward was having a ward activity
in Salt Lake City to see the lights at
temple square. I had just gone the week before, but there was free pizza! And my
friend Kim got us tickets to go to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert later
that night, so of course I went to Salt lake. The entire time I was at Temple
Square I was determined to find my old roommate Elise Laporte who is serving her mission there. I went up
to several sister missionaries asking them if they had seen her. They all said
they hadn’t but said I could leave her a note and they would get it to her.
That's not exactly what I had in mind so I
continued to search. Just when I thought “there are WAY to many people here. Im
never going to find her” I heard someone call my name. And low and behold….it
was ELISE!!! We screamed and hugged and laughed….and screamed some more. It was
wonderful! It was so nice to see her again and to catch up on one anothers
lives.
After I visited with Elise for a few minutes, Kim Shorts,
Julie, Kim Smith and I went to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert which was
absolutely lovely. Tim Brockaw and Alfie
Boe were special guests. The music was lovely and touched your heart. On top of that, they shared a Christmas story of the man who started giving the German children chocolate right
after the war. The man was talking to a group of children that waited behind a barbwire
fence. They were fascinated with the plane he drove and asked all sorts of
questions. He said he was used to going all over the world, and having people
asking him for food, but these children were happy with just talking with him.
He was so impressed with the fact that they had nothing, especially after the
war. He felt the need to give them something, especially since it was Christmas
time. All he had was two sticks of gum in his pockets. He split the gum in to 4
pieces and handed it through the fence. The children continued to split the gum
until they all had teeny tiny pieces of the wrapper and they could smell the
mint. He then felt the need to give them part of his candy rations. He got his
group to help and they flew above Germany and dropped candy bars on
handkerchief parachutes. Children would
write him letters of gratitude and sometimes even directions of how to find
their homes. His sacrifice brought tears to my eyes. And then, after telling
the story and watching the pictures, they unveiled the man who did all of this.
I was crying so much at this point. It all started with two pieces of gum. Its
just proof what difference small acts of service can do.
yay...i took a picture on my phone!
On Sunday, Katrina, Casey and baby Carson came to visit me. I
was singing in sacrament and it was so
great to have them watch me. It was the cutest listening to Carson
babble throughout sacrament. In my opinion Young single adult wards are
sometimes too quiet so It was nice to listen to Carson laugh and play and flirt
with people in my ward. And then as I Stood at the front singing the duet “ O
come O come Emmanuel, Carson looked at me and grinned the ENTIRE time….SO
ADORABLE. I was happy that all my roommates came to church as well. It was
comforting to look over at them and see their smiling faces.
That night, Katrina made a delectable dinner. Normally I cant
stand alfredo sauce but the sauce Katrina made was so delicious and quite
filling. Little Carson and I played and then I took them to their hotel.
On Monday Patrick came to visit me!!! We had dinner and then
he came to FHE with me and we made a tiny graham cracker gingerbread house. Afterwards we went back to my place and
watched as my roommate Alivia dyed Shelby’s hair. We also did a late night
snack run to Walmart J
The next day Patrick, Shelby, and I went to Smith field
Emporium ( A place that Patrick remembers form his childhood) and then to
Hastings bookstore where I had to practice self control and NOT buy anything. So
hard. I LOVE books! I love buying books…clothes and shoes will wear out over
time. Books last lifetimes J
I had to go to work at 1:30 and Patrick said he was going to
leave soon after that, so I was surprised when at 5:00 patrick visited me at
work with my two roommates Alivia and Maddy. They brought me Aggie Iceream. I
was so shocked! I thought he was already gone…but no…he just hung out with my
roommates while I was at work. Which I think is funny…but understandable…I mean
I DO have kind of cool roommates J
After work I raced home to get my luggage and head to salt
lake. My friend Jessica had given me an Owl shaped rice bag Christmas Present. So super adorable, I wish
I was crafty like that! What a sweetheart!
Patrick also left me a note...and chocolate...he knows me well!
I drove to salt lake last night ( I was surprised with the
great weather…I was nervous it would be snowy and a miserable drive) I got to
see my old roommate Morgan. It was so great to see her. I just love catching up
with old friends. It reminds me that I have people I love and that love me all
over the place. Morgan was nice enough to take me to the airport early this
morning which is where I am sitting as I write this blog….I am Ohio bound. J
Anyway, that’s the end of this blog update. I wish you all a
Merry Christmas full of laughter and cheer and family and yummy treats and of
course the Savior. And to all my Jewish friends…I hope you had a happy
Hannukuh. J

Sparkles, Lights, and Friends...a few of my favorite things :)
Last week...
So last Thursday, my friends Skye and Jessica (Smith) had a girls night at their house. They invited a group of girls from the ward and we watched a chick flick and ate yummy treats :) Jessica Kleven invited me to go to the Musical "A Christmas Carol" the next day with her and her sister and mother.
So on Friday after work I went to Smithfield to watch the musical. Both Jessica and her mother BOTH had never seen any version of A Christmas Carol...I was shocked...and happy that I got to be with them while they watched the story for the first time. I just LOVE musicals! Jessica got these delicious Cinnamon roasted nuts that they sold outside the show...I had never had those before so it was a new experience for all of us.
On Saturday I helped clean the church building, went to work, and then my friend mike invited me to go to the movies with a group to see Rise of the Guardians. I really liked that movie. It was a good cartoon i think... :) I recommend watching it!
This week:
On Monday I got 2 NEW ROOMMATES!!!! Their names are Alivia and Shelby. They are cousins and they are SO fun. They have the cutest pink bunkbed you ever did see.
On Tuesday we decorated our apartment for CHRISTMAS! Maddy's parents got us a little tree and decorations. We decorated the tree and the window hanging in our apartment. We have beautiful rainbow colored decorations that are SPARKLY!
On Wednesday Skye invited me to watch the 2nd Harry Potter movie at her house. After a day of working and studying...it was the PERFECT way to relax. Harry Potter is kind of my inner nerd....don't judge. :)
Thursday was the Christmas party for my ward. There was delicious food and Santa came. He gave me TWO Candie canes...I felt so special. :) Our ward choir did a flashmob singing thing during dinner....it actually turned out really well considering we only practiced one night....and we didn't really do what we practiced haha
On Friday I worked all day because Maddy went on a sort of retreat with the girls in her family to Salt Lake. Sounds fun huh! And it was good because I needed the hours since I'm leaving for OHIO in less than 2 WEEKS!
After work, I went to take my LAST final for the semester. Woohoo! Then right after my final, my friend Skye invited me to go to a Gallery walk. I wasn't quite sure what a gallery walk was, but it sounded fun. For all of you who have no idea what a gallery walk is either...I will tell you :) Its when the small businesses on main street hold works of art, whether they be artwork, pictures, or crafts that people make, or music. You go from store to store to look at all the art. When we went into the bookstore, William Joseph just happened to be performing there. I went to one of his concerts at BYUI and he plays on my Pandora station pretty much every day at work...so I had a little geek out moment :)
The last place we went was this art gallery here in Logan. They had some beautiful paintings there. There was one painting of purple and yellow Irises that reminded me of my mom. ( her middle name is Iris and she LOVES them...that's why we have Iris pictures all over our house). There was also this painting called the Spirit of the Louvre. The artist painted on top of pages from a french book. The painting showed the Louvre, a picture of Mona Lisa in the corner and a picture of a painter painting a little girl in the other corner. If you looked closely at the picture you saw ghost like figures hidden throughout the picture...it was neat.
BUT my FAVORITE painting was this painting displayed in the middle of the gallery. The painting was of the Savior passing the sacrament to a family at church. The father of the family has his head bent down as he reverently takes the tray and touches the Saviors hand. The mother is looking at the savior wide eyed with a look of surprise and awe. The baby is running toward him with open arms and the little girl is smiling up at him. You cant see his face....you can only see his wounded hands holding the tray of bread. It was beautiful. I think that was when I was most moved.
I ended up leaving early ( before we went to get hot chocolate) because I was exhausted...both mentally and physically. It was a long day...but a fun one :)
On Saturday I woke up early to clean the church building again and then I went to work. I stayed at work late (because its our busy season) and then I went straight from work to Salt Lake with a group from my ward. We went to see the Christmas Lights at temple square. I have wanted to go for years so this was pretty exciting. The lights were beautiful and I went with a fun group. :)
There was this choir concert going on that I watched for a few minutes that was pretty cool. The voices were beautiful and their were dancers that stood motionless while the choir sang. I didn't stay for the whole thing because I didn't want to lose the people in my group.
We toured Temple Square, looked at all the lights and nativities around the world and then went into the Joseph Smith building to warm up. :) It was even more beautiful because it was snowing the entire time we were there. It felt like Christmas. AND i think Temple Square just has a special spirit. :)
Afterwards we went to 7 Eleven and got hot chocolate and donuts. yum. :)
I tried to look for my roommate Elise who is serving her mission at temple square....I didn't see her...but on facebook she was tagged in a picture with someone else from yesterday...so she WAS there. I'm going back next weekend with my ward and I am determined to find her! haha
So yeah...this week has been busy... with finals and craziness at work and whatnot...but fun:)
Tonight Shelby's niece Westley is spending the night....she is four years old and such a cutie! It makes me excited to see my nephew...in 1 WEEK! :) OK...that's all for now...until next week...XOXoxoXo :)

Thankful for freedom!
On Wednesday (the day before thanksgiving) Maddy, Ashley (Maddy's sister), Maddy's friend Lindsey and I had a girls night. We went and bought Jimmy Johns sandwiches, chips, soda and rented a movie. The one thing I love about being single are Girls nights. There is just something about getting together with a small group of girls and watching a chick flick while eating food. And ALL of you girls know just what I'm talking about...don't deny it :)
Last Thursday was Thanksgiving Day and I got to spend it with EXCELLENT company. :)
My old roommate Alicia and her husband Clark live in Pocatello and offered to host Thanksgiving dinner at their apartment. Alicia has a brother and sister here in Logan that were able to give me a ride there and back. Katrina, Casey and Carson met us in Pocatello and we enjoyed a DELICIOUS dinner that we all prepared. We then watched Brave...but mostly we all watched little Carson be well...Carson. SUCH a cutie pie!
On Friday night Julie was visiting from Salt Lake. She just recently had foot surgery on her right foot. It was funny having two crippled girls. We went to Firehouse (where Kim works) and we got a LOT of funny looks. One guy asked Julie and I if we hurt each other. That made me laugh. Julie told him we were in a Crippled Anonymous club...us cripples have to support each other haha.
I didn't get anything to eat because I had already eaten dinner, but Julie was kind enough to share her dessert with me :) One of my favorite parts of dinner was when we were about to leave and we realized neither of us could carry the To Go box because we were both using crutches...We both just looked at each other and laughed and then Julie wrote Kim's name on the box (she was working at the time) and we left.
Once Kim got off work, the three of us went to see the movie Red Dawn. A few guys from the ward were there too (I got to use one of my free movie tickets that I got for being in the Elements commercial :) Yay for free stuff! Ive been really careful about how I spend my money lately...only the necessities...so it was nice to be able to go to a free movie :)
On Saturday, Julie and Kim invited me to go to the Utah State football game with them. It was a good game...we won of course :) After the game, Utah state was announced as the WAC champs. And apparently that's a PRETTY BIG deal...so it was cool to be there. Also they gave the students a free hot dog and free drink. SCORE!
On Sunday, after church I went to an Indexing party. My calling is a ward indexer...so it was cool to do my calling with friends. We watched the movie Anastasia as we all Indexed on our computers. It was simple and fun. (Yes Katrina...I did sing along to all the songs ;)
This past week at work has been pretty CRAZY! The whole office has spent the past few days decorating the whole conference center as well as Elements Restaurant for Christmas. ( Christmas is our BUSY season) I was the only one in the office most of the time so I answered all the calls, took a LOT of messages, and worked on a lot of little projects for everyone while they decorated. I don't mind really. I enjoy being busy. It makes time go by much faster.
On Tuesday I went to a relief society party. A PAJAMA party :) We played Christmas charades and watched Miracle on 34th Street. I hadn't seen that movie in years. After the party, my roommate Maddy and I went grocery shopping in our pajamas...at 11 pm...cause that's how we roll. Oh yeah! fun times! haha
Yesterday, Mia, Nicole and I "did our visiting teaching" and watched The Holiday at my house while we ate chocolate chip cookies. So fun. I enjoy visiting teaching :)
I visited my Doctor this morning and I am officially crutch free! Woohoo!!!! I still need to wear the walking boot from time to time, but I get to practice walking on my foot normally as well. So yeah, I'm almost recovered! Woohoo! I cant start running for about 6 more weeks and I wont be FULLY healed for another 6 months or so, but the doctor said in a few weeks I can start using the elliptical and cycling. I am so happy. I've actually MISSED exercising!
Also, other good news. I can DRIVE!!! Oh yeah! I have my freedom back. And it feels great! No more worrying about how I'm going to get from one place to the next.
As far as school goes, I'm actually finished with two of my classes. And then I have two finals that open at the end of next week. AND THEN i'll study for the GRE which I will be taking the day after I get home... and then I can rest and relax and enjoy my vacation :)
I can't wait! I love you all...XoxoXoxoXOx
Sorry no pictures...maybe next time...

The great pumpkin...who knew?
So a few people have commented that they like to be "creepers" and read my blog...um...that's what this is for!!!! I love hearing that people find my blog interesting enough to read each week :) or maybe they just like the pictures...either way...it's all good :)
Last sunday my roommate got a dog! His name is RED.( and NO. He was not named after the Taylor Swift album...at least I dont think he was...maybe his last owner was a die hard T-Swift fan... *shrug*) He is actually a puppy. He is 6 months old. He is part Australian Shepherd and part Heeler. And as far as puppies go, he's pretty good and really cute. He hardly barks...he NEVER barks at night...and plays by himself very well. (HE loves his toys) He needs some training though. Mostly just teaching him to NOT use the bathroom in the house... Im the "mean" one in the apartment. I don't let him on the furniture and I don't let him go upstairs. He definitely understands the word "no" I just need to teach him "go" and "down" :) It's a work in progress. Maddy is really good at training him as well....honestly she does most of it...which I am TOTALLY okay with :)
On Monday, My FHE group made monster shirts. We had iron on monsters that we could design ourselves and we had a contest on who could make the coolest monster. Afterwards we took the shirts outside and painted them with glow sticks. They looked awesome!!!!! Of course the glow stuff only worked that night...and sort of stained the shirts...but it was SO fun!
This is Kim and Me with our monster shirts....I'm waiting to get the cool glowing pictures...but when I get those I'll post them :)
On Tuesday, Maddy and I ate at the Elements Restaurant after I got off work. I had been dying to try it since I started working. The restaurant is so fancy and....it was just... fun. The food was amazing. Seriously. Worth every penny. And to make things even better, Maddy and I got a discount. Because we work there :) Oh yeah!!! ;)
On Wednesday, it was Halloween. The offices next to us must have had a work dress up day or something because people were walking past all dressed up.( My desk faces two glass doors...so I have a pretty nice view) My favorite group costume was these four people that dressed up as tetris blocks and walked around together. I thought that was pretty funny. All of the costumes were modest and altogether made an interesting day at work :)
That night I got to pass out candy. Not very many children came by, but it was still a pretty cool experience. I felt like such an adult. "Look at me. Passing out candy. At my place. I'm cool!" I got to meet the neighbor kids. They are pretty chatty and I got to witness Maddy's first time on a motorcycle. I remember that feeling :)
My friend Jessica Kleven picked me up and we went to Brent's Halloween party. We were a couple of hours late ( becauseI was passing out candy) but when we got there we watched the Avengers...and ate candy of course ;)
When I got home, I found this adorably wrapped gift from "the great pumpkin" for me. It was from Debi Booth (Maddy's mom). Apparently Maddy's family did this thing on Halloween night where they give up half their candy they got from trick or treating and the "great pumpkin" trades the candy for a gift. (that way the kids don't eat all their candy at once)...cute huh? and Debi was nice enough to get me a gift too. Maddy got SUPER cute boots for all those that were wondering :)
On Thursday, I GOT MY CAST OFF!!! I had to beg my doctor! I promised that I would be really good about wearing my walking boot all the time and keeping pressure off my leg...thank goodness I give off a "good girl" vibe, because he trusted me. So now I am in a walking boot, which isn't much different from the cast...but makes showering LOADS easier! :) I have to be on crutches until the 29th... but at least I'll be healed by Christmas...I hope...
That night I went to a ward activity at my first councilor's (Stan Checketts) Rec Center. Yes. That's right...his rec center...cool huh? It's right next to his house on the mountain. It has basketball courts, raquetball courts, bowling lanes, a climbing wall, pool, and dining area...and other stuff that I didn't get to see. But most of all, the view was amazing! The dining area was 50's themed, with the jukebox and sparkly red seats and records. Loved it! We had a potluck with some pretty unique foods... Some were great and some I admit, I was a little scared to try. I brought peanut butter pie. My momma's recipe ;) Maddy didn't want me to bring it... and I have to admit, It IS pretty hard to share sometimes...luckily we had leftovers :)
Oh random info...Stan Checketts has a mormon message...cool huh? I hope I'm cool like that one day...
Here it is if you want to watch it :)

On Friday, after work I went and saw the movie Wreck it Ralph with Kim and a few other friends from the ward :) SUCH a cute movie. I really think my family would like it! AND it had an owl city song, which makes it THAT much cooler... :)
On Saturday, I worked. yay money! After work my friend Jessica came over and made me dinner. SO sweet! Then we went and ran a few errands and then we watched "When in Rome" at my place. Yay girls night!
On Sunday, after church, my old roommate Alicia and her husband Clark came and visited me. I just loved loved LOVED seeing them. It made me sad when they started to leave and then I realized that I will see them at Thanksgiving. I'm so happy that they live close. Well in pocatello...which is sort of close...only 1.5 hrs away :)
Today, for FHE, my FHE group was canceled, but a guy from my group (James) was nice enough to give a ride and we joined another group. The activity was to stop by the homes of people who didn't go to FHE and to invite them to join us for icecream at Twizzleberry. And yes Katrina...I DID get the raspberry sorbet...I know you were wondering...twin vibes ;)
So this picture was actually taken right before I got my cast. It was the first and only time I have ever used one of these cart things. It was an experience that's for sure. I had mixed feelings. Part of me felt like I was being selfish for taking the cart when an elderly person might need it, and then part of me felt sort of like those lazy people you see riding them around the store...hence why i haven't ridden one since haha ( I mean i KNOW i have a legitimate excuse...but still...) Crutches give you a better workout anyway ;)
Ok that's it for now. Love you all. For those in Ohio,I got my plane ticket for Christmas this week...Im coming home DEC 19. :) so see ya then! :)

Miserable and Magical
It's been a few weeks...sorry...
So for all of those who don't know, I DIDN'T have to get surgery (thank goodness) It was an option...but I opted out of it and then afterwards my doctor was like " That's probably best because we would have had to put in a big rod (I broke my fibula into 3 pieces) and there would be a large incision...which means a large scar"....NO THANKS! So now I am in a cast....a BLACK cast...I thought it would look more professional at work and go with more outfits :)
Also, one of the other receptionists at The Riverwoods got hired as an event coordinator at work, so I got to take over all her hours. YAY! Instead of working 9 hrs a week I work 25.5 - 31 hrs a week :) which is such a blessing because I was running out of money FAST!
My relief society has been really great about coordinating rides for me to and from work every day. My visiting teachers are just as awesome as they come! They have taken me to pie night, to the movies to see the new batman, and we have had girls nights together where we watch movies at Kim's house. Unfortunately Julie is getting surgery on her feet so she is moving today :( I'm gonna miss her!
Other people in my ward have been super helpful too. From grocery shopping to going to see movies to just coming over to keep me company. I have people offer to carry my bag, open the doors for me, and when we played fugitive for FHE, I got to be a "cop" with Jessica...so I could still feel included! I love my ward :)
This past week my roommate and I were in a commercial for The Elements restaurant (where we work). The commercial will play before movies in the local theaters....people can probably only see the back of my head....but I AM wearing a pretty bright green shirt, so I may be easy to spot. haha I'll have to go to the theaters in a couple weeks to see it :) It was a fun experience that's for sure... :)
This weekend my friend from BYUI (Stephanie Bradford, kats old roommate) came to stay with me. She brought her baby Kaiden who is such a cutie pie! It was so great to see her! One of my favorite memories was when the wasp got into the car while we picked up our pizza....good times! We also went on an ice cream run for old times sake :)
I also went to 2 Halloween parties this weekend. I wore last years costume to the first party and then I pulled together a pirate costume from things in my closet for the second party. It's kind of hard being crippled at parties because you are sort of stuck sitting...no dancing ( trust me I tried....it was awkward!) and no moving around a lot to socialize....Oh well! I still had fun and met people :)
Today I gave a talk on Obedience at church. I was more nervous about walking up to the pulpit in crutches in front of everyone than I was about giving the actual talk haha Definitely a memory I will never forget. I also sang in the ward choir...some things never change :)
In other news....Ive been listening to Taylor Swifts song 22 like crazy....hence the title of this post :) Love that song! It kind of sums up my life at the moment. Thank goodness for being the same age as Taylor Swift haha
Oh and I VOTED!!!! Woot Woot.....DONT FORGET TO VOTE! :)
Love you all bunches! XOXOXOXOX

Remember that one time...you know...when I broke my leg...
So you all know about my leg, and trust me ill get to that story later, but i'll start with events that happened earlier last week...
Last tuesday night, I went to a friends house for dinner. Megan from my ward had served her mission in Korea and had prepared a Korean meal for a group of us. Most of you know that when it comes to food, I'm pretty picky. I try to at least try a small bite of everything because I don't want to be rude. Trust me I have tried some pretty interesting dishes. So when I went to this dinner, I didnt expect to eat very much. I was pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious. I wish I could remember the names of the dishes she made....sorry. I'm not gonna lie, I was so proud of myself! Look at me. Living on the edge.Trying new foods. I'm pretty extreme these days :) I'll admit I did steer clear of the seaweed paper things...I already know that I dont like it from my experience of trying sushi. Not a fan...
After dinner my friend Jessica was teaching a Yoga class for Fit for the Kingdom...I wasn't going to go because I had a paper to write, but since I was living on the edge that night, I decided to procrastinate...crazy I know! haha
From past experiences I really disliked Yoga. I always felt like it was impossible and that I was the only person that couldn't touch her nose to her toes. But this time was so fun...and relaxing...and just wonderful. I was actually really good at it and I felt so relaxed when I came home. I was able to finish my paper with ease...funny how that works...
Tuesday was also my roommate Maddy's birthday. She is Miss Popular so I didn't see her until late that night. I made her a peanut butter pie for her birthday...and she liked it :) Did I ever mention how much I like my roommate?
On wednesday, I went to Zumba...which I loved! I had missed it the week before due to exhaustion, so I was happy to be back! We even danced to new songs which is always fun. Before Zumba was a nutrition seminar. It reminded me of all my health science classes at BYU-Idaho...I sure do miss that place sometimes!
On thursday, I was excited all day for the ward activity. We went to a corn maze. I love corn mazes! It's just such a "fall" activity. And I like fall. After we walked through the maze, a few of us watched the cartoon version of sleepy hollow. You know the one with the song about "katrina". I hadn't seen that movie in years! Its funny how different it is when you watch it as an adult. The characters actually develop and are nothing like I thought they were when I was a kid...
Our ward served freshly made scones with honey butter and apple cider. I was having a blast! That was when I decided to go down the slide....
This slide is a black tube located on top of a maze of hay bales. The hay bales have holes throughout the maze so they warn you to be careful...I decided to be "safe" and just climb on the outside to the top where the slide was. At the bottom of the slide were two mattresses and a spongey foam board wall which stood upright to keep people from flying off into the cars because the slide was pretty steep. I should have known better...I mean the entrance of the slide had a 8-10 ft drop so you had to literally climb into the slide! Once I hit the mattresses my feet rolled underneath my legs and I felt a sharp pain. Then I realized that I couldn't get up. I was SO embarrassed. I had to be carried to the car (I had car pooled thank goodness) and driven home. The girls who drove me helped me into my house (which fortunately i left unlocked...something i NEVER do..) and two boys from the ward came to give me a blessing which seriously helped me feel better. Oh and my roommate Maddy bought me icecream so that helped too :) . I thought it was a sprained ankle because the pain was in my ankle and it was really swollen...
The next day I called my parents and they both urged me to go to the doctor to get x-rays...so I did. And that was when I found out that my leg (fibula) was broken...in two places. Don't worry...i didn't cry until i got home. I was afraid of being in Utah and in my apartment alone all weekend (My roommates sister was in town so she was with her family).
Luckily, I have the best family ever! Katrina and Casey and little Carson came saturday morning and spent the weekend with me. We watched conference and geeked out together about the age change for missionaries :) Casey and Katrina cooked for me and helped me with odd things around the apartment. On sunday, Colton and Mary came to help out too. Mary made lunch AND dinner. We made delicious caramel apples and after katrina and casey left, mary and colton stayed and played games with me. So fun. Colton helped vacuum and sweep my apartment and Mary did all the dishes.
I admit that I felt odd not being able to do things myself. I think that has been the hardest part of breaking my leg. I have to overcome my pride and ask others to help me. I'm so used to helping others that I feel silly having to ask for help in return. I wanted so much to play outside with Carson, to pick him up when he fell. I wanted to be able to wash my own dishes and vacuum my carpet...silly things...but I never realized how independent I've become. I am truly grateful that I had people around that loved me enough to do these things for me.
I also have a really great ward! I've had three visitors since I broke my leg. Tina came over and brought me oreos. Tasha came over and brought me a rose (which is the best smelling rose ever) and Jessica came over and brought me brownies. And that's not counting the plethora of get well texts and phone calls i've recieved. My bishop called me a few times just to see how I was doing. I've had multiple people tell me that they would be willing to help give me rides or grocery shop for me...I am literally overwhelmed by their kindness!!!
So when I found out my leg was broken, I had a personal pity party and then I decided to just forget it. I'm not a negative person and I don,t want to be. Last night when I was reading my scriptures I read Ether 12:27
27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their aweakness. I bgive unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my cgrace is sufficient for all men that dhumble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make eweak things become strong unto them.
I feel like this explains my life at the moment completely. I need to overcome my pride and get over the fact that my leg is broken. In retrospect it's a pretty small trial compared to all the blessings I have received lately...
I have decided to not let this "trial" get the best of me. I went back to work today and I went to FHE (my relief society organized for someone to drop me off and pick me up) and I've been practicing using the crutches. I think i've got the hang of it. I've also got a bit of my daily routine figured out...like showering, dressing, making food, and getting in and out of a car.
Tomorrow I go to the Orthopedics office to see if I need surgery or a cast and what not...I'm really hoping this is a quick recovery...but we shall see...
But just so you all know, I am doing fine! My leg may be broken but my spirit isn't. I am so thankful for the love and support I have received and I just want you all to know that every comment on facebook..every text...every phone call has meant the world to me...so thanks!

Me with friends in the corn maze :)
Not the best picture...but you get an idea of what the slide looked like...
Me standing at the top of the hay....notice that piece of wood by my foot ...that is where the 10 ft drop is...
I successfully climbed into the slide without falling...and then I broke my leg at the bottom of the slide...

Me and my caramel apple...and my crutches :)
The best way to eat a caramel apple....
